Smart Drugs

Introduction

Doctors in the US are trained to not prescribe life extending or life enhancing drugs.  The basic belief is that if you're not absolutely sick, you're well enough and you should leave well enough alone.  I soundly reject this as a barbaric tribute to our ongoing failed war on drugs.  This attitude makes me angry.  More people are seeing acupuncturists, chiropractors, herbalists, or even MDs with training in alternative medicine because they too recognize that health is a spectrum, not a binary equation that is either "on" or "off."  The drug industry/AMA/FDA (you can't tell them apart by viewing a member's list) has carefully set up the system to deny life enhancing drugs to Americans.  Fortunately, you can get them shipped to you -- legally -- from overseas.  They are drugs made by the same manufacturers that make drugs in the US.  Some are not approved in the US because they haven't been recognized by the FDA, others are not prescribed by doctors because doctors are unaware of their life-extending effects.

The best way to get these drugs is to find an open-minded doctor, get a prescription, and make your insurance pay for them.  Since that is very hard, you can also buy them from overseas.  In any case, discuss these with your pharmacist and/or doctor if you are concerned  about interactions with any drugs or herbs you take.

I will list quite a few drugs that I take regularly, but there are a lot more that I don't regularly take for a variety of reasons.  I highly recommend the book "Smart Drugs II - The Next Generation." to learn more about side effects and proper dosage.  Be very careful -- some of these are MAO inhibitors which do interact with other drugs.  I am not going to mention side effects with much detail be avoid liability for this site, and to encourage you to do proper research before you begin taking smart drugs.  There are only three that I recommend you consider without a ton of research - vinpocetine, Metformin, and Piracetam.  Piracteam is just awesome and is a life-changing smart drug that provides more focus and measurably raises your IQ, on top of preventing early brain cell death.

Amino Acids
What Why When Where Side effects (not a complete list - you are responsible to determine this)

Hydergine Mental function (clears up fog), energy, IQ increase, increases oxygen flow (not blood flow) to the brain, greatly delays cell death from a lack of oxygen.  Not a stimulant.  Start with one/day and increase until you feel a difference.  A little "harsher" than Piracetam.  Also releases HGH. 1-3/day (just enough to get an effect) link May cause nausea if taken on empty stomach.  May cause irritated "cranky" state of mind.  Amplifies effect of caffeine.  Amplifies effect of hydergine.

Cognitex/ Vinpocetine Cognitex is actually a supplement full of brain vitamins, but also contains vinpocetine, a smart drug derived from periwinkle flowers.  Vinpocetine improves circulation and keeps acetylcholine, a primary neurotransmitter, active for longer.  Very safe.  Helps you find words on the "tip of your tongue" 5-10 pills/day, every day link none
Lucidril

Removes "liver spots" from your skin and brain.  They are made of Lipofuscin, a brown scum that forms over time from protein as directed  link Makes some people depressed.  READ PACKAGE INSERT & ASK A PROFESSIONAL.
Metformin (Glucophage) Metformin is a diabetes drug that normalizes blood sugar levels.  As you age, blood sugar levels soar, and doctors consider this normal.  Life extensionists consider this abhorrent, because increase blood sugar means increased aging, lower energy, and obesity.  Metformin will make your skin age more slowly, and give you more energy, especially in the afternoon.  Older people benefit greatly from it; one 65 year old I know who started taking it said it took 20 years off how he felt. 1-2 per day link May cause diarrhea the first week or two you use it; will go away over time.
